Frank Reid
When we at the Foundation think of a Superhero, we don’t think of Batman or Wonder Woman, we think of Frank Reid.
If you live in the Boonah area you are probably familiar with that name. Frank is a JP and a Patron of the Boonah Golf Club. He’s also a former Lions Club Secretary, President of the Templin Historical Village, Chairman of the All Saints Parish Council, and the list goes on - including as a former Secretary on our own Management Committee.
Our Foundation is a volunteer organisation. We can’t get by without community-minded people like Frank. When asked why he volunteers, he says:
“Having served in the army for many, many years and having been told many a time, ‘Never volunteer’, from my earliest days, I can only say, ‘I wish I knew why’. I can only say that an important principle of leadership is never ask someone to do something you are not prepared to do, or try to do, yourself. Don’t tell anyone, but I also like helping people!”.
Whenever we put out a call for volunteers, Frank is there. He is also the backbone of the Boonah Bookfest. Throughout the year, Frank is the one who collects the book donations and transports them to the Foundation’s storage space. This can often be a mammoth task depending on the public’s generosity and from where the books need to be collected from. He’s already begun collecting items for our 2026 event. Stepping up and committing to a task on a regular basis is a very valuable asset in today’s world.
Quite rightly, we made Frank a Life Member in 2020. We eagerly await the day he’ll rock up to the Boonah Cultural Centre wearing a mask and a cape.
