Boonah Playmakers

The Boonah Playmakers is our theatre group. It was created in 2023 when several members expressed a wish for a drama group. Its successful premiere performance in 2024 was a staged radio play adaptation of ‘Murder at Moorstones Manor’, a Ripping Yarn.

New members are very welcome, both onstage and behind the scenes.

Blithe Spirit by Noël Coward

'A Masterpiece of Comedy and Escape'.

Charles Condomine is a novelist struggling with writer’s block. He invites an eccentric local medium to conduct a séance, hoping for inspiration for his next book. His neighbours, Dr and Mrs Bradman, are invited to attend. Charles, his second wife Ruth and the Bradmans are looking forward to an entertaining and exciting experience.

Charle’s receives more than he bargained for when the ghost of his first wife appears and moves into the house.

Expect glamorous 1940s costumes, sophisticated wit and lots of laughs. Cast and crew details.

The play was an instant success when first performed in June 1941, praised for its lightheartedness during wartime, offering witty dialogue and an entertaining supernatural premise.

Sir Noël Peirce Coward (16 December 1899 – 26 March 1973) was an English playwright, composer, director, actor, producer, and singer, known for his wit, flamboyance, and what Time magazine called "a combination of cheek and chic, pose and poise".
